Anna Chaplains and Anna Friends, named after the widow Anna, who appears with Simeon in Luke’s Gospel, are people who offer a few hours every month to visit older people wherever they live as part of a supportive network across the community.
Anna Chaplains are made up of licensed clergy, lay ministers and lay volunteers, so the only qualification you need is to be a good listener with a real heart for working alongside older people.
In the Diocese of Exeter, the ministry is overseen by Annie Jefferies, who is an Anna Chaplain herself and Dr Jon Curtis, the Diocesan Lay Discipleship Advisor.
