St. Peter's Church has a strong musical tradition going back many years.
The Choir has a wide repertoire and is fortunate in its facilities, the Church has a very fine three manual organ (for details see below), on the north east side of the Church is a large choir vestry and there is a very healthy music library. The Church is light and airy, but also well heated in cold weather.
However to maintain our traditions, we always need new members in the Choir, both to expand and to replace those who leave the area.
A very warm welcome awaits you, should you wish to join us.
It is a four part choir and we have vacancies in all sections. Set out below is some of the basic information about the Choir. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Music, Mr. John Stainer.
What do you need to join?
- A love of singing; a sense of commitment;
- the ability to sing in tune; and above all else -
- Enthusiasm!
Previous experience is not necessary, neither is a trained voice.
What can the Choir offer you?
Friendship from like minded singers; the chance to work to a high musical standard; and a musical training.
Commitment??
Choir practice is held on Fridays at 4.00pm in the choir stalls. There is a Choral Eucharist at 11.00am each Sunday.
The Choir also participates in all the major festivals throughout the year, and for these and other special occasions singers who are able to augment the choir on an 'ad hoc' basis are most welcome.
If this is not for you but you know someone who may be interested, please pass this information on.
