Christmas Concert On Saturday 11th December at 7.30pm, St. James  welcome Teign Choral Society and the League of Friends of Teignmouth Hospital for their popular Christmas Concert. The concert was not held in 2020 because of the pandemic and now everyone connected with the choir and St James’ is determined to make the occasion truly memorable. It will be in the customary format, with readings and well loved Christmas carols for everyone to sing. The choir will also sing an interesting version of The Twelve Days of Christmas by American composer Craig Courtney. He has adopted a different period style of music for each of the 12 days, from 6th century Gregorian chant to the well known American John Philip Sousa, whose pulsating marching effect brings the story to a fitting crescendo on the 12th day, with contributions from composers as diverse as Vivaldi, Offenbach, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and many more.

David Bowles will be resuming as the highly accomplished Musical Director and once more Wyn Turner will be accompanying, making a special journey from his Welsh home.

Tickets, to include programme, £6 from Teign Music, Carlton Place, Ashleigh Way Post Office, members of the choir and at the door.

St James 200

11 September marked 200 years since St James’ Church took on its unique, octagonal-shaped building. The church was rededicated on that day in 1821 and we held a Fun Day all to celebrate the occasion.

We now look forward to the next 200 years of ministry in St James' church by joining together in 200 days of prayer.

"For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope." - Jeremiah 29:11

"Over and over again it will happen that if a man or woman, having thought out a problem to the best of their ability, will then lay the whole matter in the hands of God, and genuinely desire that God's Will shall be done in their lives and not their own, it will become perfectly clear what that will is. Over and over again this happens." - Willian Temple

Lord God as we celebrate 200 years of a church made new in this place show us clearly your way for the next 200 years. Teach us how to pray, that we may grow in faith and numbers and serve your people with joy and delight. Through Christ our Lord, Amen
